I built my 3rd rail today. I learned from previous mistakes, and made this one smaller with slanted edges. I also covered the top with a thin metal piece.
Next, I built a small ramp, just the right size for Ryan's pegs. He hasn't learned to bunny-hop yet, so I thought it would help him get onto the rail. I draw a dashed line, where his tires should go, to slide smoothly. I also threw some foam padding on the ground.
His first couple of runs, he just rode past. Then, on the third, he did a light grind. At each run, he would grind more and more. I slowly started to move the ramp farther back, so that his grinds could be longer.
By the end of the day, he was hitting it like a pro. He even hit off a no-footer, although this one seems to have been an accident.
