Pop Can Reso

During a discussion on Gigar Box Nation, I came up with this idea for a pop can reso for some simple acoustics.

My first build was an electric guitar using a rod piezo for sound. That was pretty easy to accomplish but I'd like to build an acoustic now. That seems a lot more difficult.

The idea here is to drill a hole in the middle of the body about 1“ deep. This drawing is a 2×4 board with the pop can in it. I would place the bottom 1” of a pop can into the hole and drill a small 1/4“ hole in that. That pop can becomes a small reso. Here's a quick 3D drawing of the idea.

A standard US pop can has a diameter of 2.5” (which is the scale of this drawing). There are 2-1/2“ hole saws around that would probably drill the hole nicely. Here's an inexpensive hole saw set on Amazon.
