Installing Asterisk Under Debian Etch

• You'll need (at least)

apt-get install libncurses5-dev

• Download asterisk

cd /usr/src
wget http://downloads.digium.com/pub/asterisk/releases/asterisk-1.4.17.tar.gz

• Extract it

tar -xzf asterisk-1.4.17.tar.gz

• Install it

./configure
make clean
make
make install
make samples
make config
